We\u2019ve delivered 147 Ajax vehicles into the British Army, and now we\u2019re looking to the future, so we\u2019ve developed the Ajax IFV,\u201d said Scott Milne, vice president and general manager of UK operations at General Dynamics Land Systems United Kingdom. \u201cWe\u2019ve changed the rear door to a ramp door to enable easy ingress and egress from the vehicle, and we\u2019ve integrated a remote turret.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ajax IFV\u2019s turret system was developed by Lockheed Martin at the U.S. company\u2019s facility in Bedfordshire, in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe turret system integrates the CT40 cannon system with cased telescoped ammunition \u2026 and we have also included a modular integrated protection system,\u201d Milne said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ajax IFV can accommodate eight troops with a crew of three, including a commander, a gunner and a driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">General Dynamics developed the U.K.-made Ajax for the British Army. The program has faced significant delays, and the manufacturer and the U.K. Ministry of Defence sought to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/land\/2023\/03\/20\/uks-ajax-vehicle-program-now-on-track-after-noise-vibration-issues\/\" rel=\"\"><u>fix noise and vibration problems<\/u><\/a> that had been encountered in the earlier stages of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new variant of the vehicle is launched as a number of countries in Europe, including Poland and Romania, are mulling plans to acquire new tracked platforms for their respective land forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the other companies that are promoting their vehicles across the region include BAE Systems H\u00e4gglunds with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2024\/12\/06\/bae-wins-25b-deal-to-supply-more-cv90-vehicles-to-denmark-sweden\/\" rel=\"\"><u>CV90<\/u><\/a>, Hanwha Defense offering the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2025\/07\/22\/romania-poland-take-different-tacks-on-buying-new-combat-vehicles\/\" rel=\"\"><u>AS21 Redback<\/u><\/a>, and Rheinmetall with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2025\/02\/04\/italy-itching-to-drop-24-billion-on-lynx-panther-tanks-with-amore\/\" rel=\"\"><u>Lynx<\/u><\/a>, among
