New online tools will help with that deposit."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of the Treasury and the IRS have announced two new online portals where Americans can submit their bank account information as the Treasury prepares to send checks as part of a coronavirus relief package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, passed by Congress at the end of March, millions of Americans will receive $1,200 deposits from the federal government in an attempt to ease the economic pain on families and individuals caused by workplace furloughs and layoffs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IRS, however, needs bank account information of Americans in order to send the payments electronically. For taxpayers who didn\u2019t file tax returns in 2018 or 2019, the IRS will have to send paper checks, which won\u2019t be sent until early May, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/04\/09\/treasury-expected-to-get-started-on-stimulus-payments-friday-178683\" target=_blank>Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an effort to \u201cspeed payments,&#8221; a Treasury news release said April 10, the IRS and Treasury launched a new web portal, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2Fl%2FeyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDAsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMDA0MTAuMjAwMDg1NTEiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5pcnMuZ292L2Nvcm9uYXZpcnVzL25vbi1maWxlcnMtZW50ZXItcGF5bWVudC1pbmZvLWhlcmUifQ.ZUwE5f2i9zCTYAm5YoBpGvgkFKroY3BHjavM0hcHsa0%2Fbr%2F77271837113-l&#038;data=02%7C01%7Caeversden%40federaltimes.com%7Cf6291b87975a4e13bd9408d7dd67557d%7C1d5c96e57ee2446dbed8d0f8c50edea5%7C1%7C0%7C637221308224034859&#038;sdata=qGEzjTilFlsqZJj2qROdAeq95ReXSb5ZArD3tKsllpY%3D&#038;reserved=0\">Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here<\/a>,\u201d where people who didn\u2019t file a tax return the last two years can input bank information to receive their payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The \u2018Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here\u2019 web portal is a tool for Americans who are not required to file tax returns to make sure they receive their payment as quickly and safely as possible,\u201d Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement. \u201cOur teams at Treasury and the IRS are working around the clock to ensure American workers and families receive their Economic Impact Payments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the same release, the IRS announced that later this month it will launch a second online application, dubbed \u201cGet My Payment,\u201d that will allow taxpayers who didn\u2019t set up direct deposit tax returns to submit their banking information to receive their money faster.
